Bankruptcy
As stated in the Firm History, our practice is limited to the areas of bankruptcy and workers' compensation. In the bankruptcy area, we primarily provide representation for consumers and small businesses in Chapter 13 reorganizations and Chapter 7 cases. Since 1977, we have represented thousands of clients by assisting them in evaluating their financial situations, advising them with respect to their various options, preparing and filing petitions and motions on their behalf, and generally representing them in all aspects of their cases. We are members of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, and Bankruptcy Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.
Experience does make a difference. Our experience has shown us that many good people have financial problems after unexpected events such as a separation, divorce, lay-offs, illness or injury. We also understand how credit card debts can become unmanageable.
By way of example, vehicle payments in Chapter 13 cases can often be reduced substantially. Credit card debts and medical bills can usually be reduced by 75% in Chapter 13 cases, or completely eliminated in Chapter 7 cases.
The attorneys and staff at Ling & Farran can offer you "shelter from the storm" by providing prompt and courteous answers to your questions.
Workers' Compensation
We represent injured workers in all areas of workers' compensation claims, including accidents and occupational diseases, and have done so for over 20 years. We assist clients initially by reviewing the facts of their case at the first interview, and after evaluating their case, advise them of their options and the procedure involved in pursuing their claims. The claims are then filed with the North Carolina Industrial Commission, and we proceed with discovery, mediation, and representation at hearings. Following the initial hearing before the Commission, we provide representation in appeals within the Industrial Commission and in appeals to the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court.
It is important that your workers' compensation case be handled the right way. If you attempt to settle it on your own, or without an experienced lawyer, you could waive or lose important rights to future workers' compensation benefits. Do not hesitate to call us for a free telephone consultation.
We do not represent insurance companies or employers in workers' compensation cases. Our practice is limited to representing only injured workers. We are members of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers and Workers' Compensation Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.
